Unveiling my commitment to counseling
My journey toward becoming a clinical mental health counselor is rooted in a deep commitment to supporting children, individuals, and families through compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University, where my training has strengthened my skills in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and trauma-informed practice. My developing counseling approach is grounded in a strengths-based, person-centered, and culturally responsive framework that honors each client’s story, resilience, and capacity for growth.
Alongside my graduate studies, I serve as a Family Specialist at Compass in Kearney, Nebraska. In this role, I facilitate supervised parenting time, provide family support, document client progress, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to promote safety, stability, and healthy attachment. Working directly with families experiencing adversity has deepened my understanding of trauma, systemic barriers, and the importance of meeting clients with empathy, structure, and hope. These experiences continually shape my clinical identity and reinforce my passion for working with children and families.
My professional interests include trauma-informed care, attachment and family systems, resilience development, and increasing access to quality mental health services in rural and underserved communities. I am especially passionate about integrating clinical excellence with advocacy, community collaboration, and faith-informed service when appropriate. Through my work in church and community engagement, I seek to build partnerships that expand awareness of mental health resources and reduce barriers to care.
As I progress toward PLMHP licensure in Nebraska, I remain committed to lifelong learning, clinical supervision, and personal wellness. I believe that self-reflection, ongoing professional development, and intentional self-care are essential to sustaining an ethical and effective counseling practice. My goal is to create a counseling environment where clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to move toward meaningful and lasting change.
The heart of my commitment
“My motivation as a counselor-in-training stems from the belief that every individual holds within them the capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery. It is an honor to witness and facilitate this journey, to act as a compassionate guide, and to co-create a space where vulnerability is met with support and understanding. Resilience continuously inspires me, and I am driven to empower others to embrace their authentic selves and navigate life's challenges with strength and hope. This is not just a profession; it is a calling to connect, to care, and to contribute to a world where mental well-being is prioritized.”
